There's an addict in my life who I love dearly. And that it's been painful to watch his physical body age, his mentality lag & his spirit wane is an understatement.  I asked him if I could share this so that some of us could pray ("For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20)--to which he replied, "Yes. I need prayer, man." Maybe you know someone like this too. We love them, don't we? But we can not save them.  But we can come together and pray to the One who can. ("Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.” Matthew 8:7)

I pray for the addict in your life as I pray for the one in my life. It has been hard for me to know when to let go and give it to God that I can not change him. I pray every day he will be clean so he can be the father he needs to be and that our son deserves! Loving an addict is very hard and very personal!

Thanks for your post!

The Lord said, "My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will accept my weaknesses all the more, so that Christ's power may rest on me. Cortinthians 12:9
I began to thank the Lord for my addiction because I know that it brings me to Him every day. Each day I lay down my weakness/addiction at his feet and ask Him to share the day with me. Each day He gives me the strength to live the life He wants for me. He will always provide strength.

My heart breaks for people who suffer from addictions. God is right there next to them and all they have to do is let Him in. I will definitely be praying for this individual. More importantly, even thought we cannot save this person, we should never give up on them. This person is God's child and worthy to fight for.

So near and dear to my own aching heart. Praying for surrender. God's mercy and grace are waiting. Fall into His arms, He will catch you and hold until you can stand again. Praying in the name of the One who gave it all so that we don't have to, our Lord and Salvation, Jesus Christ!
